Les Touches has been playing together since October 2011 when they formed at the Jacobs School Early Music Institute at Indiana University. The ensemble’s core repertoire includes the works of many of Renaissance England’s most prominent composers such as William Byrd and John Coprario as well as the works of composers whose work has gone largely unnoticed by most viol players and deserves wider circulation such as George Jeffreys and Peter Phillips. To date, they have performed several concerts in Bloomington as well as at the Archabbey of St. Meinrad and have actively pursued collaboration with other musicians. The joy they have found playing music together has compelled Les Touches to strive to share their passion for the viol and make this fascinating consort repertoire accessible to their community and in the wider southern Indiana region, central and south east Texas.
